Anyone that works in or on the fringes of the ICT industry would probably be puzzled by the idea of a romantic comedy entitled Outscourced. But endearing and funny it is.

I think what makes it work is the naivety or vulnerability of Todd/Mr Toad (Josh Hamilton) and the miscommunication between people of two cultures. The attempted explanations for both American slang and Indian words were hilarious. For example, ‘kitsch’ and ‘break a leg’, and Kali (Hindu Goddess of Destruction). I think my favourite character was Aunti-Ji as there were so many opportunities for a humorous exchange.

Although light and funny, it is not fluffy.

On at the festival.
